So Malmö FF (soccer team here) is playing very well I guess. We live like a block from the stadium and so we see it everyday. On Tuesday night, they were playing a game and we "just so happened" to be going that way ;) It was so cool to feel the energy from the stadium. It made me miss football! but it was way cool. Ras and I got some matching MFF sweatpants haha.
Oh we also contacted this super cool guy on the street this week. He had a bird and has taken it on a walk with him everyday.... for the last nine years!!! We got a picture with the bird! Awesome, I'll send it
...the pic not the bird.... ok moving on...
Also, the sister missionaries were transferred from Malmö so we inherited their area and phone. We both now have our own iPhones (LOL) but I have the sisters. So Aldste Schwabedissen (Our Zone Leader) thinks its real funny to call me Sister Hemmingsen because I have a sister's phone... good joke... and now everyone calls me that... hahahaha
Soooo in the spirit it of it being General Conference last weekend (best weekend ever for a missionary) the Hemmingsen family has a tradition of the light bulb to our projector always burning out right before the Saturday morning session. So why wouldn't I carry that tradition on to my mission? So as you are probably guessing, we had some technically difficulties this weekend in the Malmö Kapel. The bulb literally stopped working 3 hours before the thing started.... So, because Aldste Hemmingsen has all the experience in this field, he took the task of getting the bulb out of the projector. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a new one so we had to watch Conference on our 77" Samsung Smart TV 1080pHD.... it has rough ;)
So that was my week kids
But I also had about 28 hours of scheduled study time this week plus 10 hours of conference so I may have learned a few things :)
First off, if ifyou want to know how it feels to be a missionary, listen to this:
Alma 13: 23-24
23. And they made known unto us in plain terms, that we cannot err; and this because of our being wanderers in a strange land; therefore, we are thus highly favored, for we have these glad tidings declared unto us in all parts of our vineyard.
Ladies and gents, I am a wanderer in a strange land. And Ras and I have received the same glad tidings in different parts of the vineyard. But now we are here together in Malmö, Sweden, highly favored of the Lord (not to brag but that is what missionaries are), and sharing this tidings to these people in plane terms so that we may not err.
On to 24
24. For behold, angels are declaring it unto many at this time in our land; and this is for the purpose of preparing the hearts of the children of men to receive his word at the time of his coming in glory.
What is our purpose of being here? To prepare these people for the coming of the Lord.
He is coming. We are no longer waiting for the storms, the storms are here. Look around at our world. What does the world have to offer us? Nothing. What does God have to offer us? Everything. One thing that I loved from GC was the quote "for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Life is full of distractions but if we keep our eyes on the prize, we will not fail. I am so grateful for the examples I have had in my life. I have been blessed more then I deserve. But were much is given much is expected.
There were so many good things shared in General Conference this year and I can't wait for the conference edition to get here so I can read it. So many good talks were given and I just want to soak them all in!
Sorry for the random thoughts but I hope it all made sense :) Have a great week guys! I can't express how much I love you all!! See ya soon!
Aldste Hemmingsen
