First off, we had a super sweet lesson with my favorite less active, Innocent. He is such a great guy and we got him to commit to come to church and he came!
Side Story about Sunday...
The Missionaries were asked (last minute) to give a musical performance for Father's day... So we put something together right before church... Well when the time came for the missionaries to sing, I walked up on stage and saw Innocent looking right at me and just laughing because he knows how much I looove to sing.... hahaha. Anyway, he then told me afterwards that it was totally worth it to come to church just so he could see us sing! He also said he was coming back next week! which means if I have to sing every Sunday to get Innocent to church, then I guess I will! :)
On Friday, Äldste Scwabedissen came to my neck of the woods for splits. We had a rather interesting day... So first off, we had a really good lesson with an investigator named Seungwee and that was awesome! But then we went to Falsterbo and walked a total of about 14 billion kilometers trying to contact a referral and swing by a potential investigator. our iPhone wasn't working and the addresses we had for some people were wrong.. We also tried to get some pizza at three different places but all of them were closed or being renovated until 2015... We also missed a total of 4 buses and had lunch at a grocery story... it was a rather exciting day. hahahha
There is a man in our ward named Brother Isaksen. He is so incredibly smart. He just thinks through things amazingly. He studies the relationship of sociology and philosophy in correlation with religion. He is working on a PHD. Yeah he is too smart for me. We were talking about how some people interpret truth. It is called perspective realism. He related it to a talk given by President Uchtdorf in a CES fireside last year. The talk is called "What is truth?" In the talk it has a few different stories about people who had discovered truth but no one else would accept it even if there is some hard evidence behind it. I donlt really know where I am going with but I will leave a link to the talk because it is SUPER SUPER good!
But that was not even my favorite talk I read this week ;)
My favorite talk I read was "Helping a student in a moment of doubt" by Pres Eyring. Let's just say I have been reading parts of it over the last three days and I am only on page 8 of 11 hahaha. This talk relates a lot to how to teach people who are beginning to doubt truth. It is very relevant to Swedes because lots of Swedes will just question/doubt anything you say even if they want to believe. Boom, Alma 32:27 "even if you can no more than just desire to believe, let this desire work in you."
This talk expresses how when faced with a person who doubts, instead of trying to explain to them why their doubts are wrong, help them realize the truth they once knew or the truth they wish they knew. This can be done by listening with love so that they know you care and then by testifying of the truth that you know. When someone begins to doubt, it is truly a desire to find truth but influenced by the adversary. In stead of looking for truth, they begin to question the faith they once had by inserting the perspective of the world rather then looking at their faith through spiritual eyes.
Ah sorry I am just kinda rambling on now but I just loved that talk!
Well y'alls are probs wondering why this email is called November 22nd, so I'll let ya know :) About two weeks ago, a man named Donald sat down by me on the bus. He is from Nigeria, and has been in Sweden for about six years but he just recently moved to Malmö. After some talking, I discovered that Donald had been looking for a church to attend after he came to Malmö. I invited him to our church but he didn't come until this week. We also were able to set up a lesson with him last Saturday and we taught him the importance of keeping the Sabbath day holy. After church we introduced him to the Book of Mormon and talked a little bit about church as well. Then we invited him to be baptized and he said yes! We don't know all the details and stuff but Donald wants to get baptized on the 22nd of November! woot woot! Hard work brings results!
Well it has been a hectic week and these next two are going to be crazy as well! I love you all and love hearing from y'all back home! S/O to my föraldrig for sending me a KC World Series sweatshirt! Love it! I rep it all the time! I miss you guys and I'll see ya soon!!
